{"id":83,"date":"2020-10-01T16:08:20","date_gmt":"2020-10-01T23:08:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/omtiblog.com\/metarecords101\/?p=83"},"modified":"2026-04-10T13:31:55","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T20:31:55","slug":"transfer-invoice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/omtiblog.com\/metarecords101\/modules\/billing\/transfer-invoice\/","title":{"rendered":"Transfer posted invoices to other clients"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6>Lesson #35<\/h6>\n<h5>Billing \u2013 Transfer Invoice function<\/h5>\n<p><strong>Transfer invoices between clients when there has been a mistake in addressing the invoice to a client,<\/strong> instead of voiding and re-billing.<\/p>\n<p>Find the invoice you want to transfer to another client by its invoice number, date, order\/part number, and\/or your company\u2019s business unit(s).<\/p>\n<p>Invoices in the results gird display their information in all of the search categories plus:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Invoice amount<\/li>\n<li>Balance<\/li>\n<li>Post date<\/li>\n<li>Sent date<\/li>\n<li>Bill To and Sold To clients<\/li>\n<li>Part order date<\/li>\n<li>Void date<\/li>\n<li>Patient\/witness name (Records Of)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can sort your results in the grid by one or more columns in ascending or descending order (but when you exit the function, MR will revert back to the default order). Export the list as an <em>Excel<\/em> spreadsheet or\u00a0a CSV (comma-separated values) file to save, print, share, or use in other applications.<\/p>\n<h2>Transfer options<\/h2>\n<p>You have several options for transferring invoices. You can change the:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Firm responsible for paying the invoice (Bill To firm)<\/li>\n<li>Contact responsible for paying the invoice (Bill To contact)<\/li>\n<li>Firm which\u00a0ordered the services billed on the invoice (Sold To firm)<\/li>\n<li>Contact who ordered the services billed on the invoice (Sold To contact)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can transfer a posted invoice even if it has already been paid.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TL;DR:\u00a0If you billed the wrong client, transfer the invoice to the correct client, instead of voiding the invoice and re-billing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>MR9 concepts in this lesson<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Bill To Contact:\u00a0<\/strong>The person responsible for paying the invoice for a job. This contact could be the same as the Sold To Contact, but also could be a different person at the same firm or a person at a third-party firm that is paying the invoice, such as an insurance agency.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bill To Firm:<\/strong> The firm responsible for paying the invoice for a job.
