MR9 is web based & more reliable
A couple of features of the upcoming MR9 system that will be welcome changes:
- The new MetaRecords system is web based, i.e., it resides in the cloud and you access it through a browser on any desktop computer or laptop.
- You will no longer have to manage an outdated application (MR8) — or deal with the issues and errors associated with that program.
If you are not already on MR8 Cloud — the web-based version of MR8 — you will find even more advantages to this move:
- Always the latest version: MR9 updates automatically so whenever you log in you are always using the latest version with no effort on your part.
- Work from anywhere: All you need is internet access.
- More secure: No open ports and it’s on Microsoft Azure Cloud Services, which has security and privacy safeguards beyond what a single agency could provide.
- Better disaster recovery: With Azure, if the active server goes down, there are redundant servers that take over immediately with no loss of data. This is better than a back-up system, which only saves data up to a specific point in time, so any data entered since the last back-up is lost if something happens to the primary server.
- Repository storage included: No need to maintain your own data storage facilities or use a 3rd-party data storage site.
